HANDS AND HEART PROJECT
Investing in Education, humanization, and quality of life, while integrally assisting those who are sick and their official caregivers both formal and informal.
The “Hands and Heart Project” is developed in three different places: the Hospital, the person´s home, and the Cozy House.
Hospitals: They are the starting point for the work of the COZY HOUSE; there the links are established, necessities are observed, and activities are developed with the hospitalized children and their caregivers, as well as with other patients from the Infectology ward. Based on what is seen and found in the hospitals, assistance strategies are developed.
The daily art workshops are carried out with the hospitalized children and their mothers, both in the hospital beds and in a room next to their ward.
THE COZY HOUSE
This is a social and educational project, developed in THE COZY HOUSE strategically located in among 3 public hospitals.
Targeted Public: children hospitalized for a long period, children with chronic and degenerative diseases living at home, mothers of hospitalized children, people with AIDS victims in their families, individuals with special needs, people excluded from the labor market, and people in mourning.
Activities: Beauty Day – manicure and hairdressing every Monday for the mothers. Breakfast – specially for the mothers whose children are in the Intensive Care Unit; Art Workshops; The Delivery of Basic Food Parcels for people with AIDS victims in the family; Training Courses for children and adolescents with AIDS; Courses for the Generating of Income for hospitalized children´s mothers; A Place and materials for washing clothes, taking baths, and resting; Commemoration of special dates.
Results: Sick children, their mothers, and also the families where there is someone with AIDS, have been highly benefited by the Project – with many of their material necessities being met, but especially having the opportunity of getting to know the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior.

Problems:
This year we are starting 20 new Courses in our COZY HOUSE, but we still have to organize ourselves in order to find supporters to provide for our financial needs concerning the teacher’s pay and other materials.
Words of appreciation from some of the benefited people:
“Even with my physical health clearly debilitated, my emotional health is cared for with a great deal of love, making possible a moment of relaxation and creativity. Today, although still feeling much pain and experiencing fever, there was a sense of extreme satisfaction while creating and decorating small boxes.”
– Simone-
“We use the time while hospitalized to produce something interesting, and, in doing this, we feel useful, productive and a sense of well-being; this also makes us forget our problems.” (Every week, he wants us to stay with them for a longer time.)
– Eduardo-
